Alethea's PromptPasta Investigation Cited in New Politico Piece on AI-Driven Disinformation and Information Integrity

Alethea’s ongoing research into AI-enabled manipulation tactics and networks continues to inform national conversations about how artificial intelligence is reshaping influence operations. Our PromptPasta report first identified a coordinated network of bot accounts now featured in Politico’s Digital Future Daily, which highlights additional findings from the research collective Antibot4Navalny.

The Politico piece outlines how more than 1,300 AI-assisted accounts on X (formerly Twitter) have been amplifying pro-Trump narratives, attacking political opponents, and simulating authentic discourse at scale. Further research from Antibot4Navalny — known for tracking Kremlin-linked operations — detailed how the network blends large language model outputs with suspected human oversight, creating a more adaptive form of automated engagement.

Experts quoted in Politico describe the network as one of the clearest examples to date of AI-driven disinformation emerging from state actors, underscoring how rapidly this technology is evolving.

At Alethea, part of our core mission is to illuminate new adversarial tactics and campaigns early, to provide clarity for our partners as well as inform the public. By sharing intelligence and collaborating with journalists and researchers, we help strengthen our collective understanding and resilience to the weaponization of AI tools to distort online discourse and polarize audiences.

We remain committed to informing public discourse about the present and future of narrative manipulation and information integrity.
