A New York Times investigation identified hundreds of AI-generated "influencer" accounts spreading across TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube ahead of the midterms — synthetic personas built to look like everyday supporters while pushing political messaging at scale.
Alethea contributed directly to the investigation, identifying several additional AI-generated accounts on YouTube, adding to the network already surfaced by the Times and by researchers at Purdue University's Governance and Responsible AI Lab.
